FALL RIVER, MA (March 20, 2017) – People Improving Communities and Neighborhoods (PICAN), an affiliate of People, Incorporated, is working collaboratively with Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, the Community Development Agency, and the City of Fall River to construct a single-family home at 132 Duluth St. in Fall River. This 1,500 sq. ft. ranch-style home with an attached garage, three bedrooms, and two full baths will be available in late spring. Students and staff from Diman are constructing the home. The home will be made available for purchase by an income eligible buyer through a lottery process.
On March 23rd, 2017, a press conference was held at the 132 Duluth St. site with representatives from People, Incorporated, Diman, the Community Development Agency, and the City of Fall River. "Home ownership is part of the American Dream, and PICAN, an affiliate of People, Incorporated, is proud to make that happen for an eligible first-time homebuyer," said William Perkins, President and CEO of People, Incorporated. "We have a fantastic partnership with the City of Fall River, the Community Development Agency, and Diman Regional Vocational High School. Our colleagues in this project, especially the Diman students and staff, have built this house to be a warm and welcoming home, fulfilling our objective of improving our communities and neighborhoods. We look forward to a very deserving family to claim it as their own."
