Our President, Bob Canuel, was honored and recognized by the Department of Developmental Services' Urban Youth Collaborative Program (UYCP) during a celebration and awards ceremony at the Massachusetts State House on August 10, 2017. He received the Paulette Anjorin Community Service Award for his work with urban youth and his crucial role in developing the Center for Community Engagement at the Resiliency Preparatory School in Fall River, Massachusetts. Bob has proven himself to be a longtime proponent of creative program development and collaboration.
The Paulette Anjorin Community Service award was originally named the DDS Community Service Award in 1999. It was renamed after Ms. Anjorin in 2003. She was a dynamic trainer and a pioneer on engaging staff on issues of diversity.
The Urban Youth Collaborative Program began in Boston in June 1992 with the goal of engaging young adults from diverse backgrounds in human services careers. The program has expanded statewide, with interns placed in state-operated programs and with organizations like People, Incorporated, where interns fill full-time summer jobs providing support to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
