More than a month ago, Renee St. John, Senior Audit Manager from Kahn, Litwin, Renza & Co., Ltd. (KLR), People, Incorporated’s accounting firm, contacted our CFO Megan Scheffer and asked how their agency could help make the holidays a little more special for the individuals we serve at our Agency.
KLR is one of New England’s premier accounting and business advisory firms. With 200+ team members and offices in Boston, Newport, Providence, Shanghai and Waltham, KLR provides a wide range of services to both individuals and businesses. Similar to People, Incorporated, KLR encourages and supports their team members to become active in assisting those in our community who are less fortunate.
“While I was not surprised by KLR’s request to assist families in need, I was a bit surprised when associates of KLR arrived at our offices, six cars deep, with wrapped gifts for families in need within our community”, remarked Megan Scheffer, CFO at People, Incorporated.
People, Incorporated has its own Giving Tree and this year our employees and members of the Board of Directors donated over 125 gifts to children within our programs .“When Renee approached me, I mentioned to her our giving tree program and she wanted to know how they could enhance our efforts and extend the giving to include the families of the children we serve”, Scheffer continued.
Renee coordinated with our Director of Early Intervention Services, Robin Jones, over the course of the month and identified several families who could truly benefit from the generosity of KLR. “The response was overwhelming when we delivered these gifts to families. In fact, one of the clients we provide services to cried so much when she saw those bags full of gifts for her family, she wouldn’t let me go! She continued to tell me how her heart was filled with joy and gratitude over the generosity of our Agency and KLR. It truly was humbling and uplifting moment for all of us”, noted Jones.
We are proud to partner with such amazing organizations like KLR knowing they truly embody and respect the mission of People, Incorporated.
