Miles for SMILES 8th Annual 5K Road Race and Walk

FALL RIVER, MA - People, Incorporated held its 8th Annual Miles for SMILES 5K Road Race and Walk on March 13th on Ring Road at UMass Dartmouth. This year, the event featured a 1K fun-run for kids and over 125 runners registered for the event! Acquired brain injury victims find home.

SWANSEA - People Incorporated, an organization assisting those with disabilities, has opened a home in Swansea for those with acquired brain injuries and neurological disease. It is the second home dedicated to those who fall in the category of having an acquired brain injury. The first was built in Somerset in 2014. Be an Important Piece in a Child’s Life by Mentoring!

January was National Mentoring Month and as our agency celebrates all the successes that mentoring brings, I take particular satisfaction knowing that because of our SMILES (Southcoast Mentoring Initiative for Learning, Education and Service) program, we’ve provided a demonstrated vehicle within our community for at-risk youth to realize their personal and educational potential through mentoring. SMILES, a school-based mentoring program, has a volunteer base almost 200 strong providing positive role models to youth in the Fall River, New Bedford and Westport communities.
